A sustainable food system requires a localized and regionalized system of food production and organic waste recovery. Farmers operating direct sales models rely on direct market customers to sustain their farm businesses. Customers engaged with agriculture through on-farm opportunities make procurement decisions that support a vibrant local food economy. These knowledgeable consumers also build communities that value open space, conserved land, the working landscape and the farmers who sustain it. Farm-based educators are a critical part of the system.
On behalf of the organizing partners of the 6th Farm-Based Education National Gathering, we extend our grateful appreciation for your consideration of this request to become a philanthropic partner with a grant and/or a donation of product to meet our fundraising goal for this event. We must raise this money to make this opportunity affordable and accessible and to provide a large number of scholarships.
