Have you ever wondered . . .
- How many farm-based education programs there are in the United States? In your county?
- Where you could get samples of farm-based education program's brochures, job descriptions, program pricing and newsletters?
- How many farm-based education programs offer programs to children under 5 or adults over 65?
- If there was a resource to help inform the process of updating your mission statement, guiding language or business plan?
- What percent of farm-based education programs are non-profits?
- Which educational and agricultural theories support the work of farm-based education?
The FBEA Program Research and Development Project is a five-phase project to gather and share information about the farm-based education community. Phase 2 of this project is a survey of professionals and programs to
glean statistical information. Phase 3 involves gathering materials that we can share with the field (curriculum, mission statements, research, guiding language, publicity strategies, case studies, etc.). Phase 4-5 involves making it available via our website and printed materials.
We are currently in Phase 2. Through this survey we intend to (among many other things):
- Determine how programs operate and who they benefit
- Explore how the programs are supported
- Investigate what, if any, educational philosophy / pedagogy they utilize
- Learn how programs reach their communities to deliver the dynamite experiences that they provide
We urge you to participate in this survey. The resulting data will only be as good as the answers and scope of participants. We thank you very much in advance for your time and consideration of your answers.
