What is your favorite childhood farm or garden memory?
Favorite, that is hard to say.
I remember finding a piece of corn on the ground, and asking my mom, "If I plant this little thing, will it actually grow?" She said it would, and I do not think that I believed her. But I got together a pot of soil anyways, and sprinkled some water on there after the seed was sewn, and surprisingly, it actually did grow. I remember being amazed at how quickly this happened; each afternoon it was bigger than the day before.

Thanks for the message this afternoon-- I decided to skip this conference too. We'll be going to the NOFA-NY conference, and I'm going to try to get to the NOFA-MA, as well.

The organization I was telling you about is called the Sustainable Endowments Institute (http://www.endowmentinstitute.org/)
Also, you may want to check out the Yale Sustainable Food Project (http://www.yale.edu/sustainablefood/) and the farm-to-college project (http://casfs.ucsc.edu/farm2college/index.html). There's a lot of exciting projects going on around the country!
I'd be happy to brainstorm with you further!
