Help with codes in NYS

So I thought I was all ready to start teaching on our farm, educational programs to the public, focusing mostly on preschoolers through early elementary and families, had the promo video all set... the town code enforcer and department of health were fine with my plans.  However, the county code officer, has a different agenda.  Much of what he wrote in his letter, stated "in his opinion", so really, I think I need to find a loophole or 2, in order to file a variance so I can get families out…See More

Insurance

Hi All!I have been trying to find insurance, that is not outrageous... seems that insurance companies think that kids and farms don't mix!  (I think they are the best mix!)I am planning on starting small, only a few programs per week, 10 people each time... the company that insures our farm doesn't want anything to do with it (Erie Niagara)... do any of you have companies that will/do that I could look into?  Thanks for any feedback. KristySee More

Vision and hopes for the fast-growing movement of farm-based education?
Would love to open one on our farm... we've got 200+ acres, I have a master's degree in environmental education as well as my CDA certification in early education, preschool age. My job in the local school in the UPK was dissolved in June... and would love to do this... unfortunately, we are in a very rural, financially stressed area in northern NYS... not sure how we could get this to work enough to provide an excellent program and make it profitable as a business as well.
What is your favorite childhood farm or garden memory?
collecting and boiling sap with my great uncle
