The mission of The Sylvia Center is to encourage healthy eating habits through direct experiences with freshly grown food. The Center stimulates learning through its farm to table programs at Katchkie Farm in Columbia County, the Children’s Learning Kitchen in Hudson Square, New York, and onsite in schools in New York City. We work in partnership with food and health programs that share the belief that children learn by doing and that through collaborating with nature to grow and cook food, they will gain the necessary skills to make informed and positive choices for their health and their environment.
In conjunction with the Northeast Organic Farming Association’s Locavore Challenge, The Sylvia Center at Katchkie Farm is hosting a community potluck as we continue to strive to build community around food. Create a dish using as many local, organic ingredients as possible and join us at the farm pavilion at 5:30pm to share a delicious meal together. You’ll also be able to taste your way through the Children’s Garden and meet our chickens and pigs! We hope to see you there. Rain or…Continue
