Thank you for contacting me. I called Mai the day I received this and have not heard back.. In my area I am used to NOT being contacted (for volunteering or really anything including returned calls), and had assumed this was again the case. I feel badly about that because people in your area, when visiting and networking, have a noticeable fire and receptiveness I have not experienced elsewhere.
In saying such, I am in the process of leaving the "Green Vacuum" I am currently immersed in, the Hartford area, and am moving up to your neck of the woods. I have to for my own sake, well being, and education. I visit Sirius on Sunday to check it out, gather more info, and network.
One incredibly important reason I wish to attend the Forest Garden Immersion is networking. I will need work and shelter up there. I have met a few really nice folks from the Northampton area (mentioned) already and look forward to meeting many more.
My backgrounds are Manufacturing Process Engineering and Technical Writing, which simply put is deciphering or creating processes, and documenting them, and also as a Home Remodeling Contractor. Aside from that, I have 6 years of personal food production and 1 year of food preservation experience. What I would really like to do, as I have spoken to Keith Zaltzberg about, is to help technically tie Permaculture workings together more so. The one thing I have noticed is that there are many groups and individuals working on projects that benefit others if documented and shared. Basically an Open Source Permaculture system which would reduce cost of planning and implementation. After some investigation, this is not a new concept, but none the less, one that needs attention (in my mind).
If there is any assistance or direction that you can give that would be great! :) The same goes for housing.
Best to you and I look forward to hearing back from both you and Mai,
Just pokin' around and see that it is you folks that are having the Forest Garden Immersion course. Sweet! I am working on getting things together so that I can attend.
Emailed Keith Zaltzberg the other day on this as well.
