Mike Roman - Gorman Heritage Farm, Education
Manager and Camp Director
Mike attended the FBEA conference in 2007, loved the energy and
passion of everyone he met and wanted to help continue building
upon the conference. To that end, he has worked with Brooke Redmond
over the past two years to establish an online presence for the
FBEA. Mike first worked at Gorman Heritage Farm as an agricultural
intern, camp counselor, and office assistant during the summers of
2002-2004. He also taught children music at local parochial grade
schools for four years, during which time he was nominated for the
Classic for Kids Applause Award to recognize a local elementary
school music teacher for excellence in the classroom.
He has spent the last three years at GHF building the school field
trip program and summer camp program to be a leader in education.
He was recently nominated for the Merlin G. Pope, Jr. Diversity
Leadership Award for his work integrating GHF’s land-based
education programs into local schools.
He is committed to making the Farm-Based Education Association an
excellent place for people to learn about food, farming and care of
our world.
