The Farm-Based Education Association

Inspire-Nurture-Promote

We have developed an educational program for middle school students for our farm which is a two night farm immersion program. We have had one school attend, and are now struggling with how to get other schools to find us and book a trip.  I am planning on attending conferences in November and March for MA and NH science teachers where I hope to meet interested teachers.

Any other ideas for how to get our name and program into schools and to teachers?

Thanks for the help!

What if you went straight to the school district administrator? Or ask to attend faculty meetings at your target schools and give a very short presentation and leave them with information to distribute to families if they will. You may of course have all of this figured out by now! Your farm looks wonderful.

Always looking for more ideas to connect our program with interested schools.  I am presenting at the NH Science Teacher's conference in March and hope to connect with teachers there.  I have also been advised to try to connect with teachers and parents more so than administrators.  We have been using word of mouth as much as possible too.  On a good note, the school we had last year came back this fall with their current 5th graders and we had a new group of 7th and 8th graders from NJ who stayed for 3 nights and had a great experience!  Thanks for your response and interest.
