The Farm-Based Education Association

Inspire-Nurture-Promote

Does anyone have an education philosophy or other guiding statement/document to orient your educational work? A FBE Pedagogy as it were?
We have something at Land's Sake and I have posted it here I think...
Let me know what you think. I'd be interested in knowing more about your educational philosophy and sources.

Hi Grey,
Thanks for the great vision. I especially liked the phrase: "we encourage not only a basic understanding of the natural world but also a meaningful connection to place."

We do not currently have an explicit statement like this, but are working hard as we move forward to be more intentional in what we are doing. We have had a visioning session in August and much good came of it.

Essentially, we tried to figure out what we would be, even if our mission changed. We stated that: "Gorman Heritage Farm aims to be the premier educational center to connect people to the land." This came of talking about our mission and which parts were essential to who we are. We found that a sense of place was the foundation of our organization, thus my interest in seeing your "meaningful connection to place."
Hey Grey, I checked out your ed philosophy, wouldn't this be a great topic to discuss at one of our CRAFT-E visits? I hope we can begin to set up a calendar soon.
