The Visiting Students and Summer Camp Program at Hawthorne Valley Farm is in the process of actively recruiting for the right candidate to join our full time staff as a Director. The responsibility of this position is to oversee both the day to day operations as well as the long term evolution of the program. Our program is embedded in a 400 acre bio-dynamic working farm in upstate NY. Our residential program offers children, ages 8-15, hands-on farm experiences based on the Waldorf approach to teaching. During the school year, Waldorf and private schools visit for our week-long program. During the summer, we welcome campers for 1, 2, and 3 week sessions.
The director supports and leads the program staff in a collaborative manner in order to carry out the mission most effectively. Currently there are 6 full time staff members. Interns and counselors round out the rest of our staffing requirements.
This is a full time salaried position, 45+ hours per week including some weekends, especially during the summer months. The salary is competitive and based on experience. We offer family health insurance, paid vacation, sick and personal days, holidays and pension options. The start date for this position is flexible and can be as early as October.
