SEEKING SUMMER FARM CAMP TEACHERS/COUNSELORS
About the Farm:
Education, personal growth, and community service are the primary crops at Community Farm of Simsbury. Farm-based educational programs begin for children aged 18-months and continue throughout elementary, middle, and high school. Positions:
Community Farm of Simsbury seeks teachers and counselors for farm-based, hands-on summer camp. Sessions run weekly from June 25 – August 10, 2012. Teachers and counselors should be able to commit to all 8 weeks of camp, though we will consider those able to commit to 6 or 7 weeks of camp.

Pre-School & Elementary Education Teachers (for ages 18 months-5th grade programs)
Secondary Teachers - focus on Science/Environment (for grades 6-10 programs)
Counselors (for all camp age groups)
Responsibilities:
Preferred Skills:
1. Ability to follow directions and follow through with tasks
2. Ability to take initiative when working with students
3. Ability to interact and keep rapport with students including disciplining or praising as necessary
4. Ability to be silly, sing songs, play games, get dirty, and support the atmosphere of camp
5. Comfortable with animals, outdoors, getting dirty, assisting in the garden, and getting wet
Qualifications: Teaching candidates must have a strong interest in working with diverse populations. Independent, public, or Montessori teaching experience is preferred. Science/environmental background desired but not required. Graduate students strongly considered. Counselor candidates must have some experience working with youth, and be either a High School rising Junior or Senior, or college student.
Salary: Teacher salaries are $350-500 per week based on experience. Counselor salaries are $100-150 per week based on level of schooling and experience.
