If you have been thinking of a way to get involved at the Soule Homestead Education Center, we have a vacancy on our Board of Directors. We'd like to invite anyone who may be interested to sit-in on our next meeting to be held on Auust 5th at 7pm.
We'll be meeting in the office/classroom (behind the farmhouse) located at 46 Soule Street in Middleboro. Our Board is comprised of individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and ties to many other community organizations. Current board members include: the editor of the local newspaper, the founder of the Manomet Bird Observatory, a children's librarian, a retired elementary school principal, several retired educators and people from the business community. We meet on the first Thursday of each month from 7 to 9 pm. Over the past two years the Board realized the importance of expanding our facilities to allow for program growth and began working on a strategic plan for the non-profit Education Center. As as result of much planning and group effort, the Facilities Expansion Project is well underway! The project will provide multiple handicapped accessible restrooms, kitchen facilities, and classroom/function space. Please consider joining our group as we chart the course and the future of our member-based organization. Give us a call at 508-947-6744 if you are interested and feel free to visit our website to learn more about SHEC and it's programs.
