Who is This Manual For?
Nonprofit  Organization,  Nature  Center, Farmer,  Visionary…This  manual  is  intended to meet the basic needs of anyone who wishes  to  explore  the  idea of  start­ing  a  farm­based  education  program. The  goal  is  to  provide  the  fundamental and  essential  framework  behind  starting a quality program. So, whether you are a nonprofit  organization  wishing  to  pro­vide  your  community  with  educational opportunities  to  explore  local  foods  or you are a farmer  wishing to diversify. your operations through incorporating  education  into  your  existing  production, this manual is intended for you. Because the  intended  user  of  this manual  varies greatly,  it  should  be  used  as  a  basic structure  to  examine  and  highlight  key elements  of  the  start­up  process.  Each section will  include case studies and additional resources to assist you in explor­ing  the right program fit for you or your organization.
