SUMMARY:2nd Annual Retreat for Farm-Based Educators whose work is in
spired by biodynamic agriculture, Waldorf education or anthroposophy
DESCRIPTION:Co-convened by A Week on the Farm and the Biodynamic Farmi
ng and Gardening Association\n\nIn partnership with:\nThe Michael Fiel
ds Agricultural Institute, Angelic Organics Learning Center, Philadelp
hia Community Farm and Wellspring Retreat Center\n\nWednesday, Novembe
 r 3 — Friday, November 5\n\nMichael Fields Agricultural Institute, E
ast Troy, Wisconsin\n\nAll across the country, biodynamic farms and ga
rdens are becoming educational environments for children and adults wh
o are eager to gain an intimate connection to the sources of their foo
d and to learn how to do grow it themselves.\n\nWho are the teachers?
For many such individuals, this is a new vocation, thrust upon them by
their CSA members or nearby Waldorf school children, who peer over th
e gate, wanting to help and wanting to learn. For others, this is a ch
osen vocation, newer on the landscape of career options; many of these
educators see farms and gardens as ideal settings for children and yo
ung people to develop responsibility, resourcefulness, and healthy res
pect.\n\nLast year’s retreat was a significant first step towards fo
rming a collegiate, connected group of farm- and garden-based educator
s inspired by anthroposophy. Retreat organizers intend for this yearâ€
™s gathering to further develop this collegiality and to deepen awaren
ess of this vocation.\n\nParticipants will have the opportunity to exp
lore curricula, discuss funding possibilities, and learn about integra
ting animals into their programs. Also included will be work and artis
tic activities at a nearby site as well as a Theory U Case Clinic sess
 ion.\n\nFor more information visit http://www.farmbasededucation.org/e
