FBEA Spring Field Day

Hawthorne Valley Farm is celebrating its 35th birthday this year!
Tour the farm facilities including: the 12-acre market garden, the greenhouses, the dairy barn, the cheese and yogurt making facility, the children's garden, the dining hall and cooking spaces, the old farm house/dormitory, and the K-12 Waldorf School. Also, learn how their programs integrate the Waldorf Education philosophy and biodynamic farming into the farm-based education experiences they provide.
Hawthorne Valley Farm offers summer camp for children 8-15, school visits for K-12, and special event programming for their immediate, local community and the community of visitors of all ages that come from NYC and elsewhere in the North East to spend time at this special place.
If you are coming from afar and would like to spend the night, Hathorne Valley Farm can accommodate some folks in their dormitory-style housing. Otherwise, for a list of local accommodations, click here.
This event is hosted in partnership with Hawthorne Valley Farm and the Farm- Based Education Association. Hawthorne Valley Farm is a non-profit operation dedicated to agriculture, education, and the arts nestled in the hills of the Taconic Range in Columbia County, New York.
Fee: $20 for non-FBEA members. $18 for members of the FBEA. FBEA Membership information.

Battle Road Farms at Minute Man National Historical Park
Concord, MA

Tour the historic battle road trail and visit park-based Big Ox Farm. Learn about emerging plans to expand agricultural activity and farm-based education programming at this national historical park. Hear about the collaborative partnerships and community relationship building that has supported this exciting project. This is a an opportunity for farmers and educators from Middlesex County to get together and share ideas to expand the work we all do in this community.

We are putting the itinerary and workshop program together with our friends at The FARM Institute. Here is a general description of how we will spend our time on the magical island of Marthas Vineyard:
Friday night and Saturday we will host a gathering and workshop for board members of farm-based education programs. Saturday afternoon we will tour island farms and farm-based education programs. Saturday night we will enjoy an evening of local food prepared by some of the island's many talented chefs.
